I am fortunate enough to travel the world and witness a plethora of mesmerizing landscapes. Whenever I’m witnessing these new places, my reality sincerely runs off course because my mind is stimulated by the joy nature is giving me. Wherever my gypset feet may lead, there is only one entity constantly joining me and it is the four elements of earth, air, fire and water. As change is the only thing that is constant life, so are the elements. These divine foundations are endlessly with us, in us and around us for as long as human kind exists. Specifically speaking, these magical life forms make up quite literally everything on this remarkable planet. The food we eat, the clothes we wear, and the chairs we sit on inherently take on some form of an element.
As a curious child, I had a fascination with Astrology. Being a September baby, my governing sign is Virgo, the maiden. Though I don’t find much merit to the weekly horoscope readings in magazines, I credit the principles behind each astrology sign. Through my interest with horoscopes, I learned the meaning behind each sign. Every sign has an element ruling it. With my sign, Virgo’s chief element is earth and the rest of the astrological signs have different elements affiliated to them. What element rules your astrological sign?
Aries (March 21 – April 19): Fire
Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Earth
Gemini (May 21 – June 20): Air
Cancer (June 21 – July 22): Water
Leo (July 23 – August 22): Fire
Virgo (August 23 – September 22): Earth
Libra (September 23 – October 22): Air
Scorpio (October 23 – November 21): Water
Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21): Fire
Capricorn (December 22 – January 19): Earth
Aquarius (January 20 – February 18): Air
Pisces (February 19- March 20): Water
Balance with all aspects of life is the grace that keeps our equilibrium at peace. Learning how to balance the four elements accordingly is incredibly important.
One of the most important elements of them all is, earth. This element is incredibly significant because it is the chalice that holds all the elements inside. Think about it, water, fire and air all exist because of earth. Where would a fire glow without resting on earth? Where would a river flow without being nestled in the depths of earth? Where would air dance if it weren’t sauntering around earth? How to balance the earth element is to simply connect with the earth often in nature, take time for remoteness with oneself and show gratitude for every little blessing in life. Life happens on earth and is created on this earth, so live in it with peace.
⌑ Connect often with nature with walks, hikes and exploring
⌑ Express gratitude for each big or small blessing
⌑ Take time for self care often with alone time
This element is all about passion. What are you passionate about? What are your hobbies? It’s all about igniting the fire and keeping it burning! Sometimes we become stuck in a pattern by carrying out the same life day in and day out. The importance of bringing the fire element into our life is to create more excitement and thrill! This is the recipe to extended happiness!
⌑ Find a hobby to positively consume your time
⌑ Work hard at all you do
⌑ Live out your passions
⌑ Make love with your partner in a new place
As the wind’s main substance is air, the wind is persistently moving and never in one spot for too long . The importance of this element in our life is to explore the unknown and take on adventure. Another aspect of air is to learn to let go of anger and sadness because it can have a negative influence on life. This element is carefree and has fun and so should you!
⌑ Travel to new places often (road trip, vacation)
⌑ Try a new cuisine you’ve never tried
⌑ Learn to forgive someone who has hurt you in the past
While earth allows us to live, water gives us life. What may control our life at times are our emotions. Emotions are deep, fluid and run deep much like water. Water knows the way to flow when it is running, leading it to also represent intuition. With this, it is highly important to trust our instincts because we have the ability to feel and know what is best for our well being. In addition to being more like water, we need to question and acknowledge our emotions repeatedly. These inquiries help align our life with more clarity.
⌑ Journal your day and thoughts
⌑ Learn to trust your gut instincts
⌑ Know you are competent with decision making
⌑ Write poetry about past life experience
